“We’ve created an urban sanctuary in the heart of Mayfair that captures nature’s true complexities, and that includes the stark reality of ocean plastics—transformed into works of art by Margate-based artist, Steve McPherson. Showcased in Neighbours cafe, his marine plastic piece, Flow, tells a compelling story of the enchantment of the ocean, the importance of seeking beauty in the discarded, and the magic of preserving your childlike wonder.
Spending his childhood roaming the shores of the UK’s north Kent coast, Steve’s artwork reflects the idea that it’s entirely possible to feel the influence of the ocean within you no matter where you are—always carrying an undeniable connection to the natural world regardless of your surroundings.
Gathering ocean plastics the same way he did as a child, now with a different perspective, Steve cherishes that each piece is uniquely worn by the waves, warped by the sun, and shaped by an unknown story.”
