Environmental Impact at Hofstra University Museum of Art, September 3 – December 13, 2019
Through a variety of approaches and artistic media, the works of art in Environmental Impact address the consequences of human interaction with the natural environment. Frequently the artist becomes an activist – creating works of art meant to bring awareness to environmental concerns and sway public opinion.
The works featured in this exhibition depict how more recent human intrusion into the natural world has resulted in dire environmental concerns. Featured artists – including Daniel Beltrá, Diane Burko, Edward Burtynsky, Janet Culbertson, Alejandro Durán, Steve McPherson, Alexis Rockman, Barbara Roux, and Steve Rowell – believe that we can begin to achieve change through action.
