“Plastic is an increasing problem for the world’s oceans. Back in 2014 the then most comprehensive study to date on plastic pollution around the world said there were five trillion pieces of plastic in the world’s oceans. That’s five million million pieces of plastic. One man who’s doing his bit to raise awareness of that, and perhaps address it a little, is artist Steve McPherson. He’s from Margate in Kent – but he regularly visits beaches in Dorset to collect pieces of plastic which he turns into works of art.
