In December 2014 I was flown out to Cairo to meet artists from Yemen, to deliver ‘Re-Thinking’ workshops for the British Council. This week long incredible adventure was a great chance to meet like minded artists with vastly differing cultural circumstances.
We had lively discussions, made books to create visual journals of our week, eat fantastic food, visited great creative venues and business and made new friends. What we came to realize through our discussions was that although thousands of mile separated us physically and somewhat culturally, what we wanted as artists where the same, as was our struggles with creativity. The whole experience was refreshing and the artists and organisations, and the British Council staff who took part, made for a trip of memory and discovery for all of us.
